Rev. Jeanette Cooper Hicks
The United Churches of Durham welcomed Rev. Jeanette Cooper Hicks in the fall of 2016. She is a native of Philadelphia, raised as a Roman Catholic, and attended 12 years of Catholic school. Rev. Hicks graduated from Vassar College. Her first call was to teaching elementary and then college students. She never imagined she would work in a church - but God had plans - which lead her to seminary and ordained ministry. She studied at Union Theological (NYC), Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and Boston School of Theology. This former military family (Go Navy!) has been blessed to make their home across the country, in New York, Chicago, Louisville, North Carolina, and New Hampshire, before coming to The United Churches of Durham. Rev. Hicks is ordained by the United Methodist Church with dual standing in the United Church of Christ. She is also a certified Spiritual Director. Pastor Jeanette has joyfully served churches in Kentucky, North Carolina and New England. Jeanette and Al have been married for 22 years. They live in Guilford with their 4 loud lively children, plus the whoodle wonder-puppy, Jack, who is fond of lazy naps in the church office.
