Administrative Assistant for United Churches of Durham
Job Description:
To provide administrative support services for the Pastoral Staff and the Church Leadership, which include traditional secretarial and treasury related tasks.
Tasks will include but not limited to: preparation and delivery of weekly church bulletin, preparation of church and non-church documents, (ex: funerals, weddings) preparation and delivery of weekly and monthly newsletters, maintenance of church membership database, update all notification systems, coordinate information with media outlets, preparation of reports, order and maintain supplies, maintain church calendar, coordinate building use requests, oversee contracts, basic bookkeeping and payment of bills.
Desired Skills:
The successful candidate should possess skills demonstrating the ability to self-start, effective time management, follow through skills and above all, maintain confidentiality within and outside the church setting.
Additional desired skills include the ability to exhibit loyalty to the church ministry effort while cultivating a warm and caring environment. One would need to be proficient in the use of email, websites, social media site, google docs and skilled with Microsoft Office Products, Google Apps and QuickBooks.
Job Details
This part-time position is expected to average 15 hours per week (flexible). The current office days are Wednesday and Friday. A High School diploma or equivalent and at least one year of experience in administrative services, basic understanding and experience of the workings and functions of a faith community, strongly desired.
The position requires a licensed driver’s license, the ability to lift 10 pounds and sit at a desk with a computer.
The position will report to the Pastor and the SPRC.
Compensation and Benefits
The wage is $22.00 per hour and may be adjusted for experience. Medical leave is accrued at 1 hour per 30 hours worked. After the probationary period, the position will receive one week of paid vacation per year based on the average number of hours worked per week. Any hours cancelled due to weather conditions will be made up at an agreeable time. Personal time off may be discussed with the Pastor and the SPRC.
